The Leaning Tower of Malabrigo...(And Lots of Photos!)

Okay, maybe not so much a leaning tower. It is a tower of Malabrigo though, which I wound last night at my LYS. All the pretty colors of Malabrigo, just waiting to be knitted up into something. The larger skeins are the Worsted Weight Malabrigo and the two smaller skeins at the top are Lace Weight Malabrigo. Isn't it just lovely?!

With the larger skeins I'm going to make the Booga Bag. The yellow and purple will be one bag, the green and purple another bag, and the pink/blue/purple another bag. With the lace I'm planning on making Juno Regina from Knitty. Just so that I'm not left with a bit of the pattern to go and no yarn, I'm going to knit it in two pieces and then graft them together. I was given other ideas, but I think that grafting is the way to go.

And just because I feel like it, I'm going to post all my Malabrigo pictures!

It's just lovely, isn't it. Of course, I can't get Blogger to make everything organized the way I want it. Go figure.

I got some other yarn too, that I still need to take pictures of. Eventually it'll have to be done so that I can get it up on Ravelry in my stash. At least with Ravelry my dear readers, you know that you'll eventually get pictures of my yarn and FOs...And in some cases UFOs.

Tonight's knit in is at an ice cream place! How awesome is that?!

Ignore this space. Just testing something.

The Baby Blanket is Done!

So, my baby blanket is done, completed, off the needles. Just need to weave the yarn ends in. I'll do that tomorrow when I can get a needle.

So now that leaves the Sunshine Bright Blanket and the lace scarf and hat.

I acquired the needles I needed to make the hat in the round, as I didn't have a size 8 16" circ nor dpns that I liked using. New bamboo needles. Yummy!

I also finished up a garter stitch scarf due back to my LYS on Tuesday.

I've got to get some pictures up of the new yarns I've gotten in the past two week. That will happen eventually...

Okay, it's off to bed with me. Work tomorrow!

Too Many Gifts, Not Enough Time

Okay, so the time is winding down in the school year and I'm working hard to get things done that are gifts for people I work with. One thing has to be sent through school mail, so that's one of the top priorities, as it's for someone I worked with last year. And she deserves something really nice.

Now, onto the projects.

First up is the baby blanket for someone at work. She's due any day now. We're getting together a basket. What could be better than putting in a hand knit blanket? She's having a girl as far as we all know, so it's in pink and white. I'm using Bernat's Sweet Stripes.

I've gotten a bit more done since I've taken this picture. I hope to have half of it done by tomorrow.

Next up is a lace scarf. I'm using the Branching Out pattern from Knitty. I'm also going to use the lace pattern to make a matching hat (because a scarf can't just be by itself. It MUST have a matching hat.

This pattern is so easy! I'm really into lacework right now.

I have no new pictures of my Sunshine Bright blanket. I should take a new one of those and post it though.

I have another update planned, so it shall come soon!

Felted Bag Disaster...:(

So, I worked really hard on this felted bag, did it in my favorite colors, striped it, everything. Well, now I have HUGE holes it in from where I joined my colors. Like, huge, most likely unrepairable holes. So, my options right now are:

  1. Try to stitch up the holes.
  2. Cut more holes in the bag and line it. Make it have a "worn" look.
  3. Cut off the edge where the holes are and then restitch that edge.
I'm thinking option number 3 is my best option. I'm already going to have to cut off the straps and figure something else out. The straps were my fault though. I made them longer than the pattern actually said to, but I thought that it would be okay because it was supposed to be a huge bag. The bag to me looks smaller than the pattern said and...well, I'll figure something out.

Has anyone got ANY ideas for me?!

The Calorie Free Birthday Present

So, the cupcake was a total hit! I easily got it done last night at group. I used this cupcake pattern. Instead of the cherry I put a birthday candle with a little flame.

I'm working on the Double-Diamond Fingerless Gloves from the book Arctic Lace by Donna Druchunas. I have nearly one done, but I think I'm going to frog it. The cast on is too tight, and I need to go up a needle size. And I'm not going to be able to fit the Double-Diamond pattern on twice unless I take out this 5-6 rows of st st I did between the two. I'd rather pull out hours of work and remake a product I like instead of spending hours on something I'm never going to wear.

The Joy of Last Minute Gifting

So, someone I work with has a birthday tomorrow, the person I work most closely with (does that sentence even make sense?). Well, I had always planned on knitting her a cupcake because she's trying to lose weight.

SURPRISE! Her birthday is TOMORROW!

Thank goodness for the love of Ravelry where I can quickly type in "cupcake" in the pattern search and come up with what it is that I'm looking for!

At knitting group tonight I'm going to declare myself in a "No Talking Zone" so that I can get most of it, if not all of it done, while there. Everyone will want to know what I'm doing of course, and I'm a pretty fast knitter, so I should have nothing to worry about. I even called up my LYS to see if they had the needles that I would need so that I didn't have to worry about running someplace else prior to group.

We'll see how this goes.....

Spring Break Knit-A-Thon...With Pictures! Part 2

Yesterday while at Danner's, a friend of the shop owner's brought in some things for freebies. One of the things was this lovely set of Boye Interchangeable Needles, perhaps one of the first ones.

And these are my pretty little yarn cakes of Cascade 220! So lovely they are. My mother picked them out to be made into a felted bag from the 2nd Personalities book.

Okay, so I'm off to play on Ravelry a bit more and perhaps actually do some knitting...

Spring Break Knit-A-Thon...With Pictures!

So, this past week has been my Spring Break. I've got so much done, both knitting and non-knitting alike.

I taught myself how to do entrelac and I came up with this:

I've since seamed it and debating on what to do with it now. Either a bag or a pillow I suspect, as it's the right size for either. Making it a bag means lining it....I can live with that I guess. How much can I do on a sewing machine?

Next up are my Two-At-A-Time Socks. I've never knitted socks before in my life! And I figured, since I had to make them at some point this year to please some people and to show that I'm able to knit socks (because what am I not able to knit?), I decided that I'd just make them both at the same time. I figured that I'd just be Miss Fancy Pants by making them this way. Of course, showing them off at knitting group on Tuesday got me to teach another class next month on this exact technique. I really need to work on my sock making now!

Next up is the picture I took of my Sunshine Bright blanket. I'm making it for a gift for someone I work with. I really need to take an updated picture as I've gotten so much more done.
