New Project
Got more new yarn today, Hobby Lobby house brand. I'm working up my own pattern for some cabled arm warmers, followed by a hat and then, naturally, a scarf.
We'll see how this turns out.
Now, off to watch the last 1/2 hour-ish of Grey's!

Mittens Are Done!
I know, I know. I need to get up pictures and get a link up to the book I got the pattern out of so you can see how awesome they are and go out and get the book for yourself.
I got some yarn today too. Some from Danner's (gotta love the skein swap...although I take more than I give....), and some dirt cheep Lion Brand Watercolors.
I'm not sure what I'm going to work on next. I'm going to design my own arm warmers out of the sock yarn I have. Designing is fun, but a challenge. We'll see how well this goes. I have yet to make socks out of sock yarn. I'm much more an arm warmer person anyhow. I want to make something people can see.
Okay, it's nearly bedtime for me. I have to learn to get more sleep! Happy knitting!

A Long Overdue Post!
1. I have a job! I absolutely love my job! Plus, I have money for knitting books, supplies, and yarn!
2. When I logged in, I couldn't find my blog. That problem is fixed now, due to some stupidness on my side.
3. I've been putting off updating.
I will try to be better.
I don't have any new pictures to add because I've put the camera someplace and now I can't find where that someplace is. I don't do this often, but hey, it happens.
I've been doing loads of knitting. I've completed recently (from memory, so hopefully it's most everything):
1. Double knit star scarf
2. Hat to go along with above scarf.
3. One mitten (other is currently WIP)
4. Gift scarf
5. Baby Blanket
6. Felted bowl (my first felting project)
And that's all I can think about right now that I've finished. So there will be pictures to take and to then upload.
My birthday was on Thursday (the 20th of September), and when I came back from knitting group, I had a lovely e-mail surprise! I got an invite to Ravelry! I was super excited. I've been wandering around, not really posting much, but just kind of seeing what it's all about. I can't wait to tell them all I got the invite.
In other knitting news....
I'm teaching a class in April at Danner's! I'm so excited! I'll be teaching double knitting and using the scarf pattern that I used (that I need to dig up the link to and post here). I've already had people say they're planning on taking it.
Okay, I'm off here to explore Ravelry some more. And I will try to be better about updating from now on.

Kintting quizzes!
What Kind of Knitter Are You? |
You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting and do it all the time. While finishing a piece is the plan, you still love the process, and can't imagine a day going by without giving some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation involves leaving ample space for the stash and supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn ends and you begin.http://marniemaclean.com Take this quiz! Describe your laundry routine. Do you have a certain day when you do it all, or do you just wash whatever you need for the next day?
I just usually wash what I need for the next day. I wear a lot of black so there's usually a load or two of that each week. Everything else just gets washed when there's a lot of that color or I want to wear it.
Soup
In your opinion, what age will you be when you’ll consider yourself to truly be old?
Not sure. It's something I've never really thought about. When I get that age, I'll know.

What is one of your goals? Is it short-term, long-term, or both?
A goal of mine is to own my own house. Most defiantly a long term goal!

I Almost Lost My Blog!
So...on the knitting front...
I picked up some yarn at Danner's last week called Maizy. It's made from 82% Corn Fiber, 18% elastic Nylon. Finally, something in a red/black/white combo! (pictures later!)
I've picked up some clearance yarn here and there.
I've also decided to work up an inventory spread sheet of all of my yarns. I am honestly amazed of all I have (and yet I keep buying). I've got yarn in 12 containers, allowing a little bit of room in all of them (two of them have a lot of "growing room").
I've been doing a good amount of knitting. I finished up the Bermuda Sun scarf. It's going to be one of my favorites to wear once it starts getting colder!
I'm a few rows short of being half way done with the baby blanket.
I've been working hard on my charity squares. I'm up to 10 or 11 now, with another one in progress.
Okay, sorry for the not so good blogging, but I blogged, and I'm happy.

Knitting Update
I completely frogged the Bermuda Sun scarf. But I'm so glad that I did!
As I was working on it today I noticed that the yellow in the yarn is forming a zig-zag. I hate that I only have a little bit in the skien I'm working with now. I hope that I'll be able to continue the zig-zag when I add in the new skien. Don't you love when your yarn does something that you didn't plan on it doing?
Still working on the baby blanket.
I got some Lion Brand Suede for $.97 today. There was a pattern that I wanted to make that I knew took that yarn but I couldn't remember exactly how much it took. I want to make this bolero that's on Lion Brand's website. I need to get two more skeins and I don't know if I'll be able to do it until Sunday, Monday at the latest. I really hope I can still find it! If not I guess I'll have to look elsewhere and pay a whole lot more or just make something else! We'll see what happens!

Blogging at Danner's
I've been knitting on the baby blanket and I'm nearing the half way point. I love how it's knitting up and the pattern is really easy to follow.
I've also pretty much finished the scarf using the Bernat Matrix. I just have bind off. I'm going to see about making a hat out of the stuff but I'm not sure how well it would turn out. There wouldn't be much shape to the yarn at all and I don't really want to use it as a carry along with something else. I guess this will be one of those trial and error projects.
I've got new yarn to make a scarf out of. I grabbed this one yarn out of the freebie bin at Danner's and I can't remember what it is. But I'm using it at both ends of the scarf and making the main part of the scarf out of Lane Cervinia Caprice in this green shade. I'll post pictures soon.
Okay, I'm off to work on something. Post again later.
Saturday, July 28, 2007
I've done a few rows on the baby blanket. I can only work on it so long before I get tired of counting. And with as sleepy as I've been today, I don't want to risk messing up somewhere.
I'm just a few rows over half way done with the scarf using the Matrix Web Wines. I love how it's turning out.
I've put a few rows into the Bermuda Sun scarf also.
No one project is holding my attention that much right now, so why not get a bit done on a few projects?

The Blog Update You've Been Waiting For!
Here it is, the big picture update (at least I hope so as the pictures didn't want to work last time I tried to post one...)
So, this stuff is in no particular order....
I have someone special who will occasionally be making appearances as a model here on the blog. It's none other than Harry Potter. Okay, so it's just a cardboard cut out of Harry Potter....But he doesn't complain about anything, so what could possibly be better?
Ah, and the lovely flash that you can see off of Harry!
Here is Harry modeling a scarf. Although you can't really tell.
And a close up of the yarn used to make the scarf he's wearing...
It was done using Moda Dea's Frivolous in Nightlife.
And once again, here's Harry modeling a hat and a bag that I recently made...
Both are made out of some Bernat acrylic and a yarn called Playful in Bermuda Sun purchased at Hobby Lobby (it was some of the $1.77 yarn I got.).
And close ups of both....
These are the sock yarn arm warmers I made using Plymouth Yarn's Sockotta. This is the second pair that I made. I used this pattern but made the thumbs a bit longer.
These are two of the hats I've made out of Patons Twister. One is Fruit Loops and the other is Zebra Twist...
I made these gauntlets out of this book (so informative, I know!). There are a lot of patterns I like in Knit.101 book. It's a book that I really need to order for my collection!
And a close of of the pattern....
The pattern calls for Lion Brand Microspun. I'm going to make a pair in white and a pair in black too.
And now for the green and white baby blanket, which did turn out square shaped this time. I really like it.
This is a hat I made a while ago using Yarn Bee Whirligig in Sunny Side.
That's it for finished knitting projects, so now onto the UFOs!
Not a very good picture, I'm aware. This scarf is being made using Bernat Matrix in Web Wines. I'm using size 8 bamboo needles and 22 stitches across.
This is the scarf I'm making to match the Bermuda Sun (as the yarn color is called) hat and bag. I'm using size 9 bamboo needles and 20 stitches across.
I've started one of my other baby blankets. This one I need to have done by sometime in September. It's a diamond pattern from Fiber Trends. I'm using Bernat acrylic that's incredibly soft.
This is what I have done of it so far.....
And this is a close up of the diamonds, although I don't really think that you can see them that well....
This is the Fun Fur Cuffed scarf that I'm working on (as I finally found it. Yay!) I think that the acrylic is Red Heart, and then Lion Brand Fun Fur Stripes in Cotton Candy.
So, I think that's everything for now. I hope that you've all enjoyed the massive update and the pictures that I've been promising forever. More soon!
Yes, I'm Still Alive!
I started knitting again!
I've got some good news. I've finished a couple of projects. I've got some bad news. I've started more new projects.
But the best news of all? I have pictures!
Which I would gladly post right now if I didn't have to be up in a few hours and really need to get some sleep.
Depending on how tomorrow goes (I'll be doing a lot of driving....literally half the state of Indiana and back up part of it....) and how awake I am when I get home, I'll post the pictures. But they are in my Photobucket account, so they are there.
Okay, just wanted to put an update in. Till tomorrow (or later today I guess, as it's just after 2 in the morning....)

Not Much Knitting News
I've started the bag that I wanted to make, and a hat. I haven't finished anymore projects though and my WIPs list seems to ever be growing (there are more projects that aren't listed over there!).
I tried to make it a good solid week without the purchase of any yarn. I cracked though. Okay, so it was just one skien to make a hat out of... The only problem was that I never even exibited any self-control.
There probably won't be many updates in the next few days as I'll be reading the 7th and final Harry Potter book. My knitting needles will probably welcome the break!

The Joy of FOs!
I finished the green/white baby blanket! Even better - it's a square this time! I have no idea how many hours I put into that thing yesterday. I think I was at Danner's for around four hours (was I really there that long?) working on the thing pretty much non stop. And then I came home and figured I'd try to finish it off. I have no idea how many more hours I put in here. And I mean hours. I feel like such a slow knitter when I think about how many hours I put into a simple baby blanket.
Or the giant dishcloth as it was nicknamed!
I've also just finished up the last of the seven scarves for Christmas. So my mom's friends are done. And way on time at that. I'm amazed at myself. Well, at least I will be once I locate two of the scarves. I thought I gave them to mom already but she says she doesn't have them...
I feel so good that I got this stuff done. But there's still so much I have to do for gifts! I can't find the pattern for the next baby blanket. It's...somewhere in my room. I guess that I should go look for it and then start the next blanket tomorrow or Sunday.
I also picked up some yarn today for a project that I've been dying to make. The yarn was only $0.75! How amazing is that?!
Tomorrow is a trip to the Children's Museum in Indy with a friend. It's a good break that I really need right now.

HP and the OoTP & Knitting Group
I worked on the baby blanket at knitting group tonight. I love that it's decreasing so quickly. I'm hoping that I'll have it done in the next week. I'm trying to hold off working on any other knitting project just so I can get this one done. I'm becoming sick of looking at the yarn.
I also found some "Handmade By" tags to stitch onto the gifts that I'm making. My aunt got them specially made for me ages ago. At least now they can be of actual use to me!
I'm off to get things done for tomorrow that I didn't expect to have to have done. In fact, I don't really even know if I have to have them done... Better to do it now and have it done just in case. It's not like I won't need the stuff later.
And I was going to post a picture of my cat who decided to play with a hat but I'm having difficulties posting a picture. It must just be the day. Tomorrow will be better.
Non Knitting News
I just got my ticket to see the newest Harry Potter movie.
I mean, what could be better than seeing a movie and then going to knitting group afterwards?

A Month Old Already!
Charity knitting tonight at YLS. I got another square done for the blankets. I'm very proud to have made seven of the squares. I'm getting rather bored of the simplicity of my squares though. I may have to give into knitting a swatch and doing a stitch pattern. Yet, it doesn't take me long at all to complete a square like the ones I'm making now.
The green/white baby blanket is coming along well. I've finally started on the decreases last week I think. It's not taking me forever to knit a single row! And this time it's looking square shaped.
I've come to realize that there's a reason why I haven't posted pictures yet. But rest assured, there will be pictures when I get my act together. Which will be by the end of the week. Even if it means me working on it while at one of my knitting groups so that someone there can prod me to get them up.
I'm so excited to be accepted to some of my blog rings already. Thanks!
~~~
I started typing this up a half-hour ago and apparently got distracted by something. I don't remember what distracted me and why it distracted me. Scary...
Why You Should Always Have a Knitting Project With You
Traffic. The kind of traffic you don't expect and it takes you over an hour to move 5 miles down a stretch of interstate. Then you get in even more stop and go traffic and you wonder if there's an end in sight.
I've sat in traffic before and thought, "Why don't I have that knitting project with me? I could be getting something done!"
Now I rarely leave the house without my knitting basket in one hand or something that I've just left in the car for such times as sitting in traffic (or something that I don't know that's in my car that I've happened upon. My car can get a bit messy!)
Friday night (okay, so really it was Saturday morning as it was after midnight...) I'm driving and while expecting some traffic due to nighttime road work I have no idea what I'm about to get into. The traffic was insane! So as I'm sitting there wondering how long it's going to take for me to get home, I realize that I have knitting needles and yarn in my bag and that I might as well fuss over this scarf that I've been trying to knit (refer to the post about me not being able to get a yo, k2t pattern right). While I'm sitting in traffic I decide to try to knit it up one way and then another and then another (still accomplishing nothing). But having that there kept my sanity and eventually I did manage to make it home.
In other news - I've added a link to my LYS on the sidebar on the left. Click on the link and check out the shop!
I'm off to charge up the digital camera and then I'll have some pictures to share!
Blog Rings!
And now apparently I can.
I've been adding blog rings, but I think I might have mistyped my e-mail address for one or two of them! *screams* That's what I get for a long e-mail address.....
So, I guess that I'll wait and see what blog rings go through and which ones don't and then just resubmit.
I have actually been doing some knitting. I just haven't managed to stick with any one project long enough to justify being able to say I got something on it done!
I've Completely Lost My Vibe
So I found this other scarf I started on ages ago (that I had forgotten about) because it was in the same pattern I wanted to do this one in. This scarf was part way knitted and had slipped off the needles. It's also very furry yarn and with many attempts to put it back on the needles, I was unsuccessful. As I frogged the scarf I tried to figure out how I had made the simple pattern.
I can't figure it out!
But in better knitting news...
I knitted up my sock yarn arm warmers in record time!
I know that I keep promising pictures and I will have some posted soon.
When did I buy that yarn and what was I going to make with it?
This is what just happened to me.
All my yarn is currently being stored in airtight plastic containers (9 total. 4 are 56 gallons, 5 are 66 gallons.) So I went to see if I could find some room for some newly acquired yarn. Amazingly in two totes there is room still left. But then I started looking at some of what I had that I had forgotten about. I saw this yarn and I was like, "I have this for a reason. What was the reason?" And then I found all this white and I'm picking my brain trying to figure out what it's for.
Then I remember.
Apparently I have much more charity knitting to do that I remembered. Not only for things at the LYS, but for other charity knitting too.
And not only do I have those things to do, but I also have Christmas presents to finish for my mom's friends. She wanted me to make seven scarves. No problem, I can make them quickly.
I now can't remember how many I have completed. I'm thinking 4 or 5. I've currently got a started one sitting in my lap.
I also have another scarf for someone else for Christmas to finish that she doesn't know about.
Let's not forget the M&M's blanket - that was supposed to be done for last Christmas.
So now it's time to put everything for me aside and knit like crazy for the holidays.
I vow to get everything completed somehow.
I can't believe I haven't posted in a week!
But, good news is my computer is back up and running (no more fighting over a computer!) and I have been knitting like crazy!
I've gotten a pair of arm warmers done, the ones made out of Microspun.
I've been knitting up squares for a charity project at my LYS. I've completed five of my own so far. It's quick and easy knitting and it's for a good cause.
I've also been working on that baby blanket. It's slowly but surely coming along.
I've got to get some pictures taken of some things and get them up here. Pictures soon, I promise!
It Might Actually Turn Out Square!
The baby blanket is looking better this time around. I think it might actually turn out how it's supposed to!
I'm almost done with a pair of the arm warmers using the Microspun.
I started - and finished - a hat last night. I needed something to distract me. I ended up wearing it for a while after I finished it until it was time for bed. I figured it was best that I not sleep in it.
Random short update. I'll try and post some pictures soon!
When Bad Things Happen To Good Knitters #1
So, that baby blanket....You must think it's finished since I'm posting, right? It's off the needles. But... (you were anticipating that, right?) Somewhere along the line I dropped a stitch and after all the times of having it on the floor or a table to measure it I didn't catch it! Until after I bound off and was smoothing out the blanket. Oh, and the thing's not even square. It's more like an isosceles trapezoid (boy, I'm sounding smart today!).
I don't like how the blanket looks. I'd hate to give it in all honesty. I think some major frogging is in order dear readers. And then possibly I'll just tuck the yarn away in my stash and go back to it at a later time. Or I'll just do my own thing with it, create my own baby blanket. That's sounding like a brilliant plan. Or just go for a different pattern on Bernat's website. There's one that you knit diagonally. That one can't be as bad, right?
Right! I'm printing the pattern for it, then frogging away and starting over again.
And then if this one doesn't work out...
Only 4 more inches to go! *sigh*
In other knitting news, I got one arm warmer done yesterday and I'll start the next one today or tomorrow.
I also got Lion Brand Microspun today in Lily White, Ebony, and Lime. I'm planing on making these gauntlets I saw in a book I got from the library today. We'll see how well they turn out. Hopefully I like them as I have three things of this yarn!
Okay, I'm off to work on that baby blanket again. I'm going to finish it before I next post!
Pictures!
This is a baby blanket I knitted up a while ago for my neighbor's one year old little girl. She adores it!
Knitted up this hat yesterday. I used N.Y. Yarns Cloud. Such bright colors. I'm working on the scarf now.
X-mas '06 gift for a sorority sister. It's the Lion Brand boucle yarn and the pattern that's on the label.
Short Update
Got the scarf done to match the hat. Pictures will be posted soon.
I got some yarn for $0.97 yesterday. Can't complain there.
Working on the green/white stripped baby blanket. I just want to be done with the thing!
I promise, a better update later.
There's Only One Good Reason To Be Up This Early On A Sunday....
Since I'm currently jobless (again) and not that I've been raking in the dough I can't go for all that fancy yarn. I'll splurge here and there for something, but not often. So I tend to purchase most of my yarn from Hobby Lobby. I'm not going to complain, I like their yarn. And they have some amazing color combos (I mean, who'd have thought I'd come across yarn that matches this most off-the-wall shirt I purchased? And I mean, PERFECTLY matches. It was fate.)
So sometime between 2 AM and 2:30 AM the weekly ad appears in my inbox. Now if I could just stay awake to actually get it between those times! But oh well. I've glanced at it and looked at the yarn online. And while yeah, I'd like some of it, I mean, what am I going to do with it? Put it amongst the yarn already in my stash (and it's quite some stash) and wait until I get around to knitting it up? (duh! Isn't that what you're supposed to do with it?)
In other knitting news...
I'm just a bit over half way finished with the cabled scarf. Yay! I'll get it done between everything else I want to do (journal and read a book).
Okay, it's time to go back to bed!
Things Are Up and Running!
I never thought I'd actually start a knitting blog. But here I am still contemplating what it is I'm about to step into. I mean, this is a whole new world!
And I've never been good about keeping a blog of any type, so we'll see just how long this lasts.
I'm off to set up the blog, and at some point get some pictures up and such.
